How Do We Defeat Fear?

The million-dollar question is . . . how do we defeat fear? Ding! Ding! Ding! The answer is: We will defeat fear by facing it. The journey may be long and we might not necessarily achieve exactly what we first envisioned, but just by facing the fear and fighting for what we believe in is a triumph against fear in itself. Just by facing our fears, we have made the internal fight a little easier to grasp and will begin a journey of persistent progression that knocks our fears out one by one. In doing so, we will bring about a clearer vision of our goals and release the fog that our fears had originally created around them. Each fear that we face and surpass will now transform into one less we will never have to worry about again.

By facing our fears one by one, our bodies will begin to receive the message from our subconscious to turn those instincts of fear into the instincts of a fighter. By becoming a fighter, we will train our mind and body to react differently towards the feelings of nervousness that doubts, excuses, and fears have created. With a nervous stomach burning, sweaty palm dripping, scrambled-egg brain thoughts and feelings beginning to occur, our new inner body will automatically adjust itself into fight mode rather than retreating and being defeated by our inner demons, aka “The Villain.”

Courage is a characteristic that lies within all of our spirits. Some of us know how to bring our courage to the surface of fear, but some of us do not. We all have something we fear, something that gives us anxiety, something that puts us at total discomfort, something that makes us want to crawl into a hole and hide. Those are the literal powers of fear where it can bring us to our extreme weakness. It is at these moments, when we feel the butterflies swarming in our stomachs like killer bees on fire that we need to act. It is at these very moments when the thoughts of being rejected, neglected, losing, and discomfort we need to strike back the most. We need to learn to take action when fear sets in, not when we feel comfortable. Because facing fear when we are at ease is not truly facing fear. Instead, we must be at the opposite and feel completely helpless and mentally shut down by the cause of fear. When this feeling of vulnerability hits, we must act immediately and let the courage sink in so we can mentally push through those thoughts and feelings of fear.

Let us finally put our fears to rest and use our newfound courage to put our best foot forward, with no doubts or worries about the outcome, and slay the inner demons. Whether we win, lose, succeed, or fail, we are stilling facing our fear instead of running away. If we can accomplish this and face our fears one by one, then we
